Description

The Friends of the Cornelia Goethe Centre (CGC) at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main regard women's and gender studies as an essential part of science and politics, with the aim of achieving greater gender equality. This is why we support the Cornelia Goethe Centre, whose namesake is the sister of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.

We provide financial support for selected projects and events of the CGC as well as for the guest professorship named after Angela Davis. We also support the CGC's public relations work in order to raise its profile.

The Cornelia Goethe Award, which is awarded for outstanding academic work by young scholars, is of particular importance to our circle of supporters. As a rule, the Cornelia Goethe Prize and the Guest Professorship are awarded alternately. An annual award is also possible. The Cornelia Goethe Salon on the occasion of Cornelia Goethe's birthday on 7 December provides a festive setting.

Members of the Friends Association are invited to attend conferences and lecture series of the CGC and can inform themselves about the current state of women's and gender studies. The general meeting of the Circle of Friends offers the opportunity to bring in own ideas and to network.

We would like to encourage other individuals and institutions to support the CGC financially and ideationally, in order to be able to support more projects and to strengthen the connection between the university and the city.
