Since the summer semester 2025, Prof. Dr. Sarah Speck is Professor of Comparative Cultural Sociology at the European University Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder). Previously, she was Professor of Sociology with a focus on Women's and Gender Studies at Goethe University, Coordinator of the GRADE Center Gender and Co-Director of the Cornelia Goethe Center. She is a member of the faculty and deputy director of the Institute for Social Research and part of the graduate school for doctoral students “Dialectics of Participation” and “Doing Transitions”. She has previously researched and taught in Hamburg, Berlin, Darmstadt, Tübingen and Osnabrück. Her research interests lie, among others, in the area of the contradictory change of gender relations, social reproduction in contemporary capitalism as well as transnational (queer)feminist and other social movements. She has published on critical and feminist theories of society, the political economy of couple relations, gender/socialization and education, new masculinities, care and motherhood.
